Description
The model SIF-653 card is the heart of a real-time data acquisition system. It provides twenty-one 16 bit digital counter channels (seven Intel 82C54 counters), and 24 digital I/O lines. A Z8 microcontroller handles all of the real time processing, and transmits the resulting data via the RS-232 port.
All of the counters are selectable to accept either differential signals, or single-ended CMOS level inputs. The RS-422 signals can be driven up to 1,000 meters using twisted pair wire. Port C on the Z8 can also be used to drive and receive RS-422 level signals, four outputs and four inputs.
The SIF-653 card can be plugged into a full-length PCI slot, or mounted as a stand-alone module. The PCI slot is only used to provide +12Vdc. The RS-232 interface is always used to read and write data.
Applications
Due to its universal design, the serial interface data acquisition card, model SIF-653, can be used with nearly any computer system that has an RS-232 port.
TSA can also supply custom software for specific applications, including a comprehensive list of commands for customer use.
