by TSA Supports DNDO Global Nuclear Detection Architectlure Responsibility" by TSA Systems, Ltd.
TSA Systems has developed a highly sensitive mobile detection system, MDS-134A, with RAVEN software capable of detecting
Special Nuclear Materials in variable background environments featuring comprehensive communication and reporting
for monitoring devices. The MDS-134A exceeds the DNDO's Global Nuclear Detection Architecture requirements.
TSA Systems specializes in the design and manufacture of radiation monitors and detectors, providing radiation measurement solutions and detection technology in controlling SNM (special nuclear materials). TSA offers RAVEN software for use with the radiation portal monitors that provide a networking of multiple radiation portal monitors at various locations with a central control station. The software creates a network for establishing a radioactive alarm event notification procedure with video and data support. Radiation portal monitors (RPMs) are being installed at approximately 300 ports representing five types of entries (or "vectors") which include, international mail and express consignment courier facilities, land border crossings, rail border crossings, international airports and seaports. RPMs are a passive, safe, and effective means to scan vehicles, cargo containers, and other conveyances for illicit radioactive material. The goal is to scan 100% of traffic and cargo for nuclear and radioactive materials, while maintaining an efficient flow of commerce. The RPMs are part of a multi-layered, integrated, detection system of stationary, mobile, and handheld radiation detectors; radiation isotope identifier devices; nonintrusive inspection technologies such as radiography; information technology infrastructure; physical searches; and most importantly, highly trained Customs Border Patrol officers. RPM (radiation portal monitors) are used for cargo inspection and as military instruments to detect nuclear contraband, dirty bombs, and SNM, (special nuclear materials). They are security monitors with radiation detection technology to thwart acts of terrorism.
